Along with Frank’s many teaching positions he can be seen performing regularly as both a solo and collaborative pianist.  Frank is a founding member of the successful Ricordanza Trio and the Artistic Director/Co-founder of the Ricordanza Chamber Music Festival (Victoria, BC).  Not only does he work with musicians from the Greater Victoria community, Vancouver, Montreal, Rhode Island and Sydney, Australia, he is also the Head Accompanist for the Viola Studio of Joanna Hood, at The University of Victoria.  Frank has many years of experience working with singers, instrumentalist, pianist, chamber ensembles, choirs and musicals. 


Frank Chu holds a Performance Diploma from Red Deer College, as well as a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the University of Lethbridge.  He later went on to complete a Master of Music (Performance and Literature) from Brandon University.  Frank’s primary teachers included Mayron Tsong (University of Lethbridge), Deanna Oye (University of Lethbridge) and G. Lawrence Jones (Brandon University).


Frank’s objective as a musician and music educator is to take an individualistic approach to each work or student and to help communicate the innate emotions and joy of playing and hearing music.

Frank Chu is a classically trained pianist sought after as both performer and as music educator, currently making his home in Victoria, British Columbia.  He has been described as an “expressive, sensitive and individual pianist” and an educator who “helps his students see beyond the simple notes on the page,” and who has been heard several times on CBC Radio BC with Canadian Tenor, Isaiah Bell.  Frank is on the keyboard faculty at Brentwood College, Minstrels Conservatory, Tom Lee Music as well as running a private studio in his home.
